Why Pond Water Chemistry Matters

Fish and shrimp live entirely within their water, so its chemistry directly controls their health:

• pH stability: most aquaculture species do best in a stable, near-neutral to slightly alkaline pH (roughly 7.5–8.5). Wide daily pH swings stress stock.
• Total alkalinity: the water's buffering capacity — it resists pH swings. Low-alkalinity ponds see dangerous daily pH fluctuations driven by photosynthesis.
