Dolomite Granules for Lawns and Turf — When to Lime, Application Rates, and a Greener Lawn

Introduction

A thick, green lawn starts with the soil beneath it. Over time, rain, fertilizer, and clippings removal push turf soil acidic, and grass growth suffers. Dolomite granules are a clean, dust-free way to correct lawn pH and feed the calcium and magnesium that keep turf green. Why Lawns Go Acidic

Established lawns tend to acidify because of:

• Rainfall and irrigation leaching basic nutrients out of the topsoil.
• Nitrogen fertilizers, many of which are acidifying over time.
• Thatch and organic acid buildup at the soil surface.
• Removal of clippings, which takes calcium and magnesium off-site.

As pH falls, grass struggles to take up nutrients, moss and weeds gain an edge, and the lawn thins and yellows despite feeding.

What Dolomite Does for Turf

Dolomite corrects this on several fronts at once:

• Raises pH into the 6.0–7.0 range most turf grasses prefer, restoring nutrient availability.
• Supplies magnesium, the nutrient behind deep green colour (magnesium is central to chlorophyll).
• Supplies calcium for strong root and cell development.
• Improves fertilizer response — a correctly-limed lawn gets more out of every feed.

When to Lime Your Lawn

Do not lime by default — lime when the soil tells you to:
