Organic bentonite granules are our 100% natural, no-additive product line designed specifically for certified organic farming operations and eco-conscious agriculture brands. Unlike standard bentonite granules that may use processing aids or come from mines where chemical treatments are applied, our organic grade is produced from select mine faces where no chemical intervention has occurred, processed through dedicated equipment that never handles treated material, and packed in new, clean bags with no recycled content.
The organic certification landscape in India is evolving โ NPOP (National Programme for Organic Production) and PGS (Participatory Guarantee System) are the two primary frameworks. Bentonite is listed as an allowed natural mineral input under most organic standards globally, including EU Organic, USDA NOP, and India NPOP. However, the key distinction is that the bentonite must not be processed with synthetic chemicals or contaminated with prohibited substances during mining, processing, or packing.
Our Bhavnagar facility maintains a segregated organic production line: dedicated storage shed, dedicated granulator, dedicated screens, and dedicated packing area. This segregation is documented and available for organic certification audits that buyers may require.

What Makes Bentonite "Organic" Grade?
The term "organic" in the mineral context does not mean the bentonite contains carbon โ it means the material has been produced without synthetic chemical intervention. For bentonite, this means: no chemical flocculants or dispersants used during processing, no synthetic fragrance or colour additives, no recycled bag material that may have contained treated products, and mine faces with documented absence of chemical contamination from adjacent agricultural or industrial activity.
The processing itself is entirely mechanical: mining โ sun-drying โ crushing โ pan granulation with water only โ screening โ packing. No chemicals are added at any stage. The water used in granulation is from our borewell, tested annually for chemical contamination. This mechanical-only processing is what makes the granules acceptable under organic certification standards.
Organic Farming Applications
Organic farmers use bentonite granules primarily for water retention in sandy soils and as a slow-release mineral supplement. In organic vegetable cultivation (tomatoes, peppers, leafy greens), bentonite applied at 500โ750 kg per acre before planting improves moisture availability during the critical 4โ6 week establishment period. In organic fruit orchards (mango, pomegranate, citrus), bentonite applied in the root zone reduces irrigation demand during the dry season.
The organic farming market in India is growing at 15โ20% annually, driven by export demand for organic produce and domestic consumer awareness. Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Karnataka are the leading states for organic cultivation. We supply organic-certifiable bentonite granules to organic farming input companies who repack and distribute through their dealer networks.

Can you provide documentation for organic certification audits?
Yes. We provide a production process declaration describing the mechanical-only processing method, a mine-source declaration confirming no chemical intervention at the extraction site, and batch traceability records linking each bag to its production date and mine source. These documents support your organic certification application or renewal.
How does organic bentonite differ from regular bentonite granules?
The mineral composition is identical โ both are natural calcium bentonite. The difference is in the production process: organic grade uses dedicated equipment, no processing chemicals, new bags, and documented segregation from conventional production. The organic grade also commands a price premium reflecting the additional handling and documentation requirements.
Is organic bentonite more effective than regular bentonite for soil conditioning?
From a soil science perspective, the water retention and CEC performance are the same โ the mineral properties do not change. The value of organic grade is in the certification compliance that allows organic farmers to use it without losing their organic status. For conventional farming, standard bentonite granules provide identical soil benefits at a lower cost.
